Kunimoto Gakuen was founded in 1942 and has a history of 80 years. Currently, it consists of kindergarten (men and women), elementary school (men and women), girls'junior high school, and girls' high school. Since its founding, we have been focusing on personality education as well as acquiring knowledge.

The aspiration of Kunimoto education is to form a rich personality based on the idea of "respecting God and respecting ancestors", and it is derived from the spirit of Shinto that the founder relied on. At Kunimoto Gakuen, this idea is utilized by the grace of the ancestors who have built a society that connects them to the great existence that is invisible to the eye that governs this universe . To be deeply aware that it is a thing. "

Our school

Founding spirit and school motto

Origin of the school name

The source of the school name "Kunimoto" of this school is "Kunimotoya" in the old Chinese book "Reiki".
The educational philosophy of this school is represented and summarized in the two letters "Kunimoto".

What Kunimoto Gakuen aims for:

Kunimoto Gakuen, founded in 1942, has a long history. Currently, it includes all academic levels: kindergarten (girls and boys), elementary school (girls and boys), girls' junior high school, and girls' high school. Since its establishment, Kunimoto Gakuen has focused on teaching students to have good character as well as improving their knowledge. Our philosophy of good character is as follows:

Sincerity

Students should strive to show sincerity at all times, not only when it is easy but also when it is difficult or painful to share the truth.

Connection

Students should accept their part of a larger ecosystem, one much greater and more ancient than themselves. Students should understand that it is only through the blessings of the natural world that human beings can exist, and humans should feel humbled by the gifts nature has given. Students should strive to understand the world around them as much as possible in order to show appreciation for those gifts.

Gratitude

Students should be deeply aware of the benefits of being alive, feel grateful for their lives, and cultivate a desire to improve the lives of others and of society in general.

Character education depends upon students' stage of mental development, so each department (kindgeraten, elementary, junior high, high school) also has a more specific educational policy, and focuses on individual development. However, those policies are in accordance with the three core principles above. We hope to continually teach ad guide students towards Sincerity, Connection, and Gratitude. In additionall, all the faculty and staff--aiming to enact the words of the founder, Haruki Ariki--believe and support the idea that "striving to develop one's talents is the essence of the school." We work diligently to be an institution that can contribute to society by finding new information, expanding our areas of expertise, and making the most of our strengths while always trying to improve.

Founder's Statement

Kunimoto Gakuen Founder & First President, Haruki Ariki (1942)

As long as you are honest with yourself, you will always have a happy heart. Passion is born from suffering. An easy life is devoid of excitement. The level and nature of understanding is different for the brain and the body. The eyes are the windows of the mind, and the center of the mind is conscience and truth. Striving to develop one's talents is the essence of the school.

Ms. Haruki Ariki, the founder of Kunimoto Gakuen, was born in Hokkaido in February 1898 and studied diligently at Joshigakuen and Tsuda Eigakujuku. In 1942, Kunimoto High School opened under the slogans "The heart of the nation is within our character, and the heart of our character is within ourselves," and "The reasons for respect and gratitude are to create the heart of the nation." (Mengko, Reiki) Kunimoto eventually evolved into a kindergarten, an elementary school, a girls' junior high school, and a high school and was awarded an Honorbale Mention Award in 1971. Ms. Ariki's life of supporting and serving students ended in March 1981, when she joined her husband in heaven, still believeing that her goal was always to build the happiness of her students individually. Her educational philosophy and pedagogy are described in her books, "Omusubi" (1957) and "Mayu" (1971). The founding spirit of Ms. Ariki is alive and well within the halls of Kuniomto Gakuen, are we aim to provide quality education even as time moves ever onward.
